I have joked befoer that, the people whom run for office in America should have to get a certain score on an I.Q. test before doing so. Well, now I have slightly changed my mind and decided that we need to take that idea one step further. How about........everyone that wishes to vote, must first take a test?
Unfortunately, I know that it would never pass because there would be no way Republicans would allow it. I can understand why as well. If everyone had to get at least......let's say, 120 on an I.Q. test, they wouldn't have many voters left. I am not saying that all Republicans are dumb, just the ones that vote for this party for the wrong reasons are.
How bad would it be though? To grow as a nation we need to base ourselves on education and not beliefs. I remember hearing a woman say, "I voted for Bush. I don't like his policies but, he's a Christian." If we continue to allow this to happen, we will never be able to acheive the greatness that this country is capable of. We all know it. We have some of the greatest Universities in the World but, only a small percentage of our population are going to college.
Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong. I would love to hear the argument against what I am purposing. Tell me that intelligence is not important and neither is education. Tell me that making sure that the people that make choices every day determining how we live, is unconstitutional. Let me know how making sure that the people that pick our politicians can spell at least at a highschool graduate level, is somehow unethical.
Please, tell me I'm wrong. The problem is, I know that I am not, though, I wish that I were.
